Final Comments

Although this example focuses on the worst possible situation, ie, a deliberate act of sabotage, this system of individual identification would also be equally useful in identifying those customers that may have purchased goods which are suspect because of some other form of accidental contamination during the production process or at some point in the supply chain.  Individual identification and precise tracking of goods has the potential therefore to save a great deal of expense presently incurred by wastage, clerical errors and pilfering. It also has the potential to greatly improve customer safety and service.
