Honouring Warranty Obligation
Maintaining a good reputation in business is an essential element to commercial success and one of the contributors to maintaining the trust and loyalty of customers is to honour warranties that are given on products.
Unfortunately some customers will accidentally or deliberately abuse this by bringing to the store items they have purchased elsewhere or that have their warranty period expired but are passed off as being a more recent aquisition of the same make and model.
The ability to individually identify an item provides the means by which it is difficult for a customer to wrongly claim warranty as this storyboard shows.

The person serving the returned goods counter scans the NuEra-ID, NU-ERA code, represented as a 2D barcode, located on the box of the game.
