Where customers pay by credit card or EFT, it would be possible, with their consent, to link them to the sale for warranty purposes and the tracking of item provenance. This latter feature could assist police in recovering the goods should ever they be stolen.

With individual ID, it is possible to prove to a purchaser that the goods are not stolen.

Retail outlets could provide a web-site where, if the ID is provided to them, they would display when the item was sold. This would provide some level of surity on the part of a purchaser that the item was not stolen and was the age the seller claims it to be.
